A Wild Ride

Yesterday, I had a riding lesson. It started out great- until the incident happened. A loud noise came from inside the stable, and my horse freaked out. He bucked time and time again, until I was launched off of his back. When I hit the ground, it really hurt, although I came out with only a few bruises. But, today, I had another lesson with no trouble. I'm really grateful to have horses in part of my life!

A Collection of Various Poetry

South Africa

A choir of angels with unwavering sound
Lift their voices to the heavens and make the world turn round.
A sweet, charming baby with a heart of gold
Brings warmth to the world, expelling the cold.
A small, desperate child with bare feet
Makes us realize that our lives are more than complete.
A towering, flat mountain with a sheer green glow
Lets us realize how nature’s riches flow.
A deep, crashing ocean with crisp clean beaches
Brings the world insight of how far God’s power reaches.
A fierce, persistent wind with a howling voice
Gives us all the more reason to rejoice.

The Feline

A competent creature,
She lies in wait,
Paws scuffling on the turf,
As the sun ceases to exist.

At the slightest resonance,
Her ears pivot,
And her vivid eyes taper.

The rodent surfaces,
Frail hands reinforcing a slim form,
Minute nose shuddering,
Heedless of the feline’s existence.

The mouser stiffens,
Bracing for the spring,
Extended claws contracting into the loose soil.

The leap is made,
And the woodland is hushed,
As the feline seizes her target,
And buries her prey beneath a brier.

The paws nimbly amble off,
The tail alertedly swishes,
As the competent creature,
Prowls off into the clustering undergrowth.

Anthology

The very guile of the act was impressive.
But I should have guessed it was coming,
For his disposition seemed spontaneous.
These recurring pranks are frighteningly prevalent,
And I worry that we will have to modify his behavior.
To extricate him from this treachery.
Our generation will not be as accepting, I fear,
Of his anonymous stunts and jokes.
I believe it is pivotal, imperative,
That we banish this naughty streak.
