Ship(naPoWriMo 29)

On and on and on we go
Where we head we do not know.
We explore a different world each passing day,
But never where only the dead lay.
We steer and run a crippled ship,
With splintering boards and sails that rip.
Our strength is weak
Our hearts spring a leak.
Each day a new world is found
Until the earth is discovered round.
On and on an on we go
Where we head we do not know.
Maybe to a spoiled sea
Of rotten berries and zucchini.
Oh dear!
Our ship shall sink, I fear!
The mainsail's split in half
And our mast makes a horrible laugh.
We shall be dead if we refuse God,
We would sink like an iron rod.
We must turn to The Lord
To let us float as hollow boards.
On and on and on we go
Where we head we do not know.

Earth (NaPoWriMo 29)

I create
And tear down.
I give life
Yet take it away so suddenly
Without even a thought of regret.
My mushroom minions decompose
Your way of life.
My brown skin
Covers many layers of heat.
I spread a great ways
Through forests and jungles.
Some call me dirt
Or even soil
But I prefer the proper name
Earth

Animals(NaPoWriMo 28)

Shedding skin
Nosing around on a well trodden path.
Angrily shaking a rattling end.
Killing a mouse to swallow whole.
Even striking at rustling leaf.
🐍

Cantering slowly
Along a dusty path.
Madly spitting at the ground.
Even slipping on the yellow sand.
Leaving a leafy land behind.

Salvation (NaPoWriMo 27)

Night will fade
And so might day
But nothing really changes.

The stars still shine
And trees still grow.

Creatures still dine
And cars come and go.

Owls hoot
And people laugh.

Trains will toot
And birds take a bath.

Dogs still run
And earth still turns.

Children have fun
And sun still burns.

Night will fade
And so might day
But nothing really changes.

But there will be a day
That all will see.

The time when God in the clouds will lay
And when every Christian will be set free.

The Ivy (NaPoWriMo 26)

I creep,
Unnoticed,
Up the side of your house and gate.
Day by day, I climb higher.
My many green hands
Reach onto whatever they can to support my body.
I am a greedy monster.
Whatever I can reach,
I claim, whether it be a tree,
Or a fence.
Even though I spread quickly,
You do not see me until it is too late.
My leafy limbs spread everywhere across a yard,
Devouring other opponents.
I steal their health,
And leave them to wither away
To turn to dust and blow away in the wind.
Yet I wait and watch
For the time where I may rule the earth.
That day will be great:
No more legs will I lose to the humans,
For they will not exist.
What am I?
I am the Ivy,
And the Ivy is...
UNSTOPPABLE.

Words(NaPoWriMo 25)

Words surround me.
They are rivers flowing about me
As I breathe them in.
Metaphors overrun me.
Their nimble truth covers me
As I breathe them in.
Analogies rule me.
They are like and as
As I breathe them in.
Prepositions confuse me.
Their two parts encircle me
As I breathe them in.
Words like
Love
Faith
Patience
Kindness
Goodness
And Self Control
Are imbedded inside me
As I breathe them in.

Hope (NaPoWriMo 24)

Hope is faith
Faith is trust
Trust is reliability
Reliability is confidence
Confidence is belief
Belief is wisdom
Wisdom is knowing
Knowing is believing
Believing is acknowledging
Acknowledging is accepting
Accepting is taking
Taking is using
Using is making
Making is creating
Creating is building
Building is reality
Reality is love
And love is God.

Sea (NaPoWriMo 23)

Licking,
Lapping gently at your clammy skin
Spreading my salty perfume
Onto your dry body.
I am but a sea,
Yet my mother is an ocean.
I am unharnessed
Uncaptured
Free.
I live with no standards or rules
Yet I reign with a sovereign hand of iron.
No mortal can tame my soul
I crumble every rope to take me in.
I take, take, take more
More land with each passing sunset.
My heart of coral
And brain of sand
Take what is available.
Call me greedy: go ahead.
But I am a source
Of life that so matters to you
That you could never give me up.
Yet try you do
Each time, never managing
To seize my unearthly throne.
What am I?
I am your life
Future
Fate
Relentless friend
Gentle hand
Waving chum
Salty freedom
Lapping love.
I am what creates
Yet destroys.
What sinks
And what floats.
Many have braved
My demanding waters and breakers
While each follows a different path.
I am the sea.

A Tree's View (NaPoWriMo 22)

I stand firm in my soil
And I bow only to the wind.
I am rooted to ground
And have many limbs.
My skin of rough texture
Can be torn easily down.
My hair is a fluffy mop of green
That protects me from harmful rays.
My lofty penthouse arms
Are home to many airborne families.
My thick trunk
Houses many grubs.
I produce plentiful fruit
For both human and creature alike.
Children adore my indifferent attitude
And struggle up my wind-washed waist.
When I fall
I am a seat for many a traveler.
A sustaining substance
For those who need me most.
I am a peace lover.
I am a lover of the light.
I am a hope.
I am a guardian.
I am a shelter.
I am a source.
I am a home.
I am a chair.
I am a plaything.
I am a tree.

(NaPoWriMo 20) Weaving

With crinkled hands
And wrinkled face
A woman sat weaving alone.
She weaves a special quilt
Of adjectives and metaphors
Adverbs and linking verbs
Similes and quotes.
She weaves a quilt unlike all others
A quilt of knowledge and wisdom.

Playmobil (NaPoWriMo 17)

Plastic playthings,
Lie on the floor,
Staring up at me with innocent faces,
All brown-eyed,
And brown mouthed,
Riding horses,
With thick, unmoving legs,
Simple, yet interesting,
Create a farm,
Zoo,
Stable,
Or house,
Collect many items:
Horses and cows,
Giraffes and zebras,
Cats and dogs,
Set up your display:
Playmobil!

Colors (NaPoWriMo 16)

Hard to explain,
Difficult to comprehend,
Impossible to to tell:
Color.
Red is red,
What else to say?
Blue is blue,
Not green or orange.
Oh,
How to describe,
The color of red?

Tree (NaPoWriMo 15)

So strong and firm,
Yet flexible and leafy.
Wind-tattered sides of dark shade,
Textured feel.
Many rings you wear,
Rings of age and time.
Who knows how long
Your independent arms will stand?
Shelter to many:
Human and bird.
Source of food,
And shady shelter.
Always a purpose,
No matter how old.
Whether stump,
Or climbing structure:
Tree.

Eagle (NaPoWriMo 14)

The consistent sound of feathered bodies,
Slapping the air in timed intervals.
The noiseless sound of a streamlined body,
A creature of air.
Talons drooping beneath a featherweight structure,
Sharp, alert, and tense.
Down the body turns,
Seeming to drop out of the sky.
Wings tucked, diving, falling rapidly,
Only to be lifted again by powerful pinions.

Moon (NaPoWriMo 13)

Fingers of glossy light envelop the earth,
Reflecting off lakes and ponds,
Casting white fingers upon the world,
Dappling rooftops with its elegance,
Creating lurking shadows in shady spots,
And illuminating dew on grass tips:
Moon.

Books (NaPoWriMo 12)

A book is a world, undiscovered and fresh.
It lays in your hands,
Waiting for you to dive inside.
Access the Amazon, Arctic, and Jungle,
Through this timeless time portal.
Open the cover,
And find a new earth,
Full of strange creatures and objects.
Explore a new land,
Wherever you are:
At home,
In the car,
Or on an airplane.

Create your own tale,
Of woven word webs.
Draw your sword
Of periods and spaces.
Relish your shield
Of commas and apostrophes.
Weave your own place,
Of monsters or love,
Wherever it may be.

(NaPoWriMo 10) Canada

With my creased, dirty hands,
I feel the thin grass strands.
The meadow stretches ever on and on,
And on the ground are imbedded the tracks of a fawn.
The sun shines down without care,
On my pale skin, so fair.
Where I dwell, it is summer,
And the winter here is ever a bummer.
Here I stand, coated in musky mold,
I'm in Canada's strong, firm hold

(NaPoWriMo 9) Seasons

Bright and sunny,
With budding flowers,
And the frost melting off the grass:
Spring.

Warm and balmy,
When the days are longer,
And the sun stays high in the sky:
Summer.

Leaves turning colors,
Falling from the trees,
And the first chilly wind opens its mouth:
Fall.

Cold and dreary,
Yet excitement fills each house,
And the days are short and snowy:
Winter.

Over and over the session repeats,
Will continue till the sun is gone,
Never faltering:
The Seasons.

(NaPoWriMo 8) Flower

Bright and enlightening,
Dazzling and colorful,
Splendid and graceful,
Sparkling and awesome,
Wonderstruck and infinite,
Flowing and graceful,
Budding and developing,
Amazing and free,
Twinkling and hopeful,
Striking and charming,
Beautiful and dainty,
Capturing and quiet,
Peaceful and engaging:
Flower.

Shadowy Reaches (NaPoWriMo 7)

Shadows bask all around him,
As he huddles in the corner.
The darkness closes in around him,
While he sits, dank and chilled.
He feels the shadowy reaches,
Of the evil one.
He shudders,
"No!"

(NaPoWriMo 6) Quick Escape!

Dodging branches and leaves,
Her feet pound on the compacted ground.
Quick escape!

Hurtling over roots and stumps,
Trampling flowers.
Quick escape!

Destroying ferns,
Running through the tall grass.
Quick escape!

Running from an unseen enemy,
Whose gnarled hands want a hold on her heart.
Quick escape!

Relentless Pursuit ( NaPoWriMo 5)

Day 5

Bright lights sparkle in my eyes,
And I'm not a superstar.
Hands wave in the air,
Music travels in waves through my body.
God's presence lingers in the room,
Reminding us of who we are.
The Holy Spirit is in our souls,
Teaching us to Acquire the Fire.

Betta Fish (NaPoWriMo 4)

He flounders about in the circular space,
At a brisk and careless pace.
His fins trail behind him,
As he stares up at his tank's brim.
Why can't he swim out and explore?
He would just fluster around on the floor.
That is his heart's only wish,
Because he's simply a pet Betta Fish.

-Inspired by Billy, my pet Betta.

Sunset (NaPoWriMo 3)

As the sun begins to sink,
Diurnal creatures to rest slink.
The owl stretches his feathery wings,
Awakening along with bats and other things.
The trees become lurking and dark,
And the wolves let out a bark.
Rats and mice scavenge for food,
While a mink works itself into a feud.
Humans lie at peace in bed,
And the songbirds long ago fled.
The light of sun is under cover,
While the moon starts to hover.

Marching Soldiers (NaPoWriMo 2)

Sound of many footsteps,
Thudding on well-packed earth.
Red jackets glint in the sunlight,
Polished boots rise and fall in step.
Traveling by cavalry and on foot,
Firearms gleam in strong arms.
Groups of chained prisoners follow behind,
Generals guard their captives with cruel faces.
British flags wave proudly in the clear sky,
And the Redcoats are prepared.

A Little Patch of Heaven (NaPoWriMo 1)

Climbing,
Tripping on dislodged stones,
Trekking up the blooming hill.

Trudging onward and upwards,
With scuffed, bare feet,
To the valley field.

Pausing at the apex,
Grape vines gently swaying around him,
Trotting through the sweetly-scented heather.

Staring,
At the blueberry bushes and strawberry patches,
Scratching at his arms.

Skipping,
Avoiding thorns and thistles,
Basket in hand.

Picking,
Handfuls of plump berries,
While juices stain his pale cheeks.

Holding,
The full basket of fruitful salvation,
Searching the vast sky.

"Why,
This looks like
A little patch of Heaven!"
